ROTTWEILER SOUND 0.5.1 Change the pitch. Keep the rhythm. A little Windows music player / pitch changer from Jake's corner. PC ONLY: Windows 10/11 x64. No Mac, Linux, Android or iPhone version. Lower or raise your music without changing its speed, save favourite moods, and control supported music apps from a full-screen player. GET STARTED 1. Right-click the downloaded ZIP and choose Extract All. Keep the entire extracted folder together in a writable place, such as Documents. 2. You need Windows 10 version 2004 or newer, or Windows 11, on an x64 PC. Install the Microsoft .NET 8 Desktop Runtime for Windows x64 if needed: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/8.0 Choose the Desktop Runtime under Run apps, not the SDK or ASP.NET runtime. 3. Open PitchChanger.exe. Its window is called Rottweiler Sound. This is a portable, unsigned early build; there is no installer. 4. The quickest first test is a saved song. Choose Song file, Open file, select your audio, choose headphones in Settings, and press Play song. Or open Settings > Help & app details > Try demo song for the included synthetic sample. No audio cable is needed for song files. PITCH AND PLAYBACK - Drag the pitch slider, use the +/- buttons, or pick a mood. Negative is lower; positive is higher. The song keeps its original speed. - Compare original switches between the original and adjusted sound while keeping your pitch setting. Reset returns the pitch to zero. - Save mood lets you name a pitch setting. Right-click a mood to remove it. - Use the bottom music buttons for play/pause and previous/next. Drag the song-position bar to seek, or use its arrow keys to move five seconds. - The music-app selector follows Windows automatically or lets you choose an app explicitly. It controls that app; it does NOT change audio routing. - Song-file mode supports pause/resume and seeking. Its back button restarts the file. There is no file playlist or next-file queue in this build. - F11 or the full-screen icon opens the large player view. Escape or F11 returns. The square title-bar button maximizes/restores the window. - The gear opens Settings. Ctrl+, also opens it. Music-app title, artist, artwork and available controls depend on what that app shares with Windows. Spotify was tested. Some apps, ads and live streams do not allow seeking. USE SPOTIFY OR OTHER WINDOWS AUDIO This needs a separate virtual audio cable and a one-time routing setup. VB-CABLE is third-party software, downloaded from its official website: https://vb-audio.com/Cable/ The driver is not bundled with Rottweiler Sound. Follow its own installation instructions, including administrator approval and a restart if requested. For one app first (recommended): 1. Start your music app so it appears in Windows' Volume mixer. 2. In Windows Settings > System > Sound > Volume mixer, set that music app's output to CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable). Older Windows versions call this App volume and device preferences. Leave your usual Windows output set to your physical headphones or speakers. 3. In Rottweiler Sound, choose Live audio and open Settings. 4. Under Listening device, choose your physical headphones or speakers. Under Incoming audio, choose CABLE Input. Use the ordinary stereo CABLE Input, not CABLE In 16ch, and never select the cable as your listening output. 5. Keep Windows' "Listen to this device" OFF for CABLE Output. Otherwise the unadjusted signal can play at the same time. Close the Sound/recording settings window afterwards, particularly with Bluetooth headsets. 6. Tick the routing confirmation in Rottweiler Sound, then Start listening. 7. Play music. Use Rottweiler Sound's music controls or your original app. Pausing music keeps pitch processing connected; Stop ends the audio route. For all Windows sound instead, choose CABLE Input as the main Windows output and keep Rottweiler Sound's listening output on your physical headphones. Individual app output overrides may still need changing separately. The "chosen apps / all Windows audio" selection in Rottweiler Sound is a setup guide, not an automatic routing switch. Browser tabs cannot be routed individually by this app. WHEN YOU FINISH: switch the affected music apps back to Default/headphones (or change the main Windows output back to your headphones) BEFORE stopping or closing Rottweiler Sound. Otherwise audio routed into the virtual cable has nowhere to play and you will hear silence. IF SOMETHING SOUNDS WRONG No sound: - Make sure Rottweiler Sound is listening and the music app is playing. - Check that the music app feeds CABLE Input and Rottweiler Sound feeds your physical headphones. Check both app volumes and Windows mute settings. - If a device was reconnected, stop, open Settings, press Refresh, choose it again if necessary, and confirm the route. Thin, quiet, telephone-like Bluetooth audio: - Your headset may be in hands-free/call mode. End any microphone use in chat apps and use its stereo/music output. Close Windows recording-device panels after checking them. This was the cause of the original headset issue. Doubled sound or echo: - Turn off direct "Listen to this device" monitoring for the cable. Make sure the original app is not also playing directly to your headphones. Missing buttons or artwork: - Select the intended music app in the player. Unavailable controls are disabled. Your source app must remain open. Rottweiler Sound is not a Spotify replacement, music subscription, downloader or streaming service. Delay, glitches or extreme pitch changes: - Pitch processing adds about 160 ms, plus audio-device/Bluetooth buffering. This is intended for music; video lip-sync and long sessions need feedback. - Start with a small pitch change and a comfortable volume. Large shifts change the sound's character and can introduce artifacts. - File support depends on Windows audio decoders. Seeking was checked with WAV; other formats may behave differently. Try a normal stereo file. SETTINGS, UPDATES AND HELP Normal launches start stopped. Your moods and settings are saved in a data folder beside the executable. The download includes no personal settings, device IDs or diagnostic logs. It starts fresh on your PC. To update, close the app, extract the new version into a separate folder, and copy your old data folder into it if you want to keep your settings. Keep the previous version until you have checked the new one. To remove the app, restore normal Windows routing, close it, and delete its extracted folder. The separately installed audio-cable driver is managed separately in Windows. Settings > Help & app details > Hide to tray keeps the audio route running. Closing the app normally stops it. The tray menu can show, stop or quit it. No Rottweiler account or subscription is required. The app does not upload your audio or record it to disk. Your music service has its own requirements. Diagnostic logs can include local file paths; review them before sharing. Use Settings > Help & app details > Copy diagnostics when reporting a problem. Updates and this guide: https://rottweilervault.com/jakes-corner Support: support@rottweilervault.com This is a small experimental utility, supplied as-is. Third-party library notices and license texts are included in the folder. The included demo is synthetic audio, not a commercial song.
